Lisa Schmitt was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas where she graduated from Topeka High School. A lifelong learner, she received her undergraduate degree from Washburn University and a graduate degree in Organizational Leadership from Baker University.
Mrs. Schmitt has many years of experience in various agencies of state and federal government and has worked with and in both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations in our community. Through these positions and affiliations Lisa has established strong background in policy creation, interpretation, and enforcement. She is currently using those skills by serving as a Board Member for Topeka Public Schools, where she has served since 2022 and will finish her term in 2026.
Lisa has volunteered in multiple parent teacher organizations and currently volunteers through her church as well as teaching and training classes for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). Through her service she has continued to grow her strong bond with the community. She is focused on people and creating strong relationships built on trust and transparency.
She is invested in our city, county, state, and country and will work hard to continue building trust and confidence in all those she serves and represents. Lisa believes people want an effective and efficient government. She looks forward to the opportunity to work with other leaders to make Shawnee County just that.
